This is my Angie's List (Pam's List?) for independent writers. It contains resources and services I've tried and recommend. If your experience differs from mine I take no responsibility. If it saves you time or money I will, of course, take full credit. If you know of something or someone that should be on this list please share your experience and send me a link via my contact page.
Best,
Pamela

Where to Publish
For print on demand (POD) publishing
KDP.amazon - Friendly user interface, formatting tips and templates, basically free, additional services for a fee, good looking books and covers that match pro standards
Lightning Source - Much less friendly user interface, basically free, cheaper for large volume or multiple items so good for publishers, generally produce good looking books, though I've heard they use local printers so can be widely varied. They do book returns so if you want to see your book in bookstores this may be your only way. Unless you consign to local stores.

For Digital eBooks
Smashwords - Friendly interface, free, helpful formatting guide, makes your books available for multiple eReaders, offers ability to create coupons so you can discount or give your book away for free (or use book cards)
Amazon Kindle & KDP - Friendly interface and helpful formatting tips. If you join their KDP Select program you must assign all rights to publish the eBook for 90 days but can then make use of 5 free days of promotion, which can take your book to the top of the free list for your genre and help generate sales.
Draft2Digital - They convert your book into various digital files and sell via numerous vendors, all at a percentage of cost. One of the best deals around.
